Sounds like the cake you are describing, Tigermouse.Maryannwriteshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09479027709233807149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28674373.post-82701775054761736622014-07-28T16:14:54.438-07:002014-07-28T16:14:54.438-07:00I love the last one, it's so apt for me.
In t...I love the last one, it's so apt for me.

In the early 90s over here there was a similar dessert called Death By Chocolate - a rich chocolate sponge cake with two layers of chocolate buttercream in it, with chocolate mouse on the top and round the sides, and topped by chocolate flakes. It was divine, I couldn't get enough of it and on holiday one year I ate three large slices at one sitting - I even bought a whole cake from the restaurant to bring home at the end of the holiday.

There was only one downside though - it was really only available commercially to restaurants and hotels and was very difficult to get any other way - a couple of firms did their own version which was available in supermarkets but it was nothing like the original.

Although ordinary chocolate gateau is still widely available the original Death By Chocolate disappeared many years ago - shame, as I really loved the stuff, but maybe a good thing in a way as I'd be the size of a house by now if I'd continued eating it all these years!Tigermousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11386636767916316587noreply@blogger.com
